MABEL & VICTOR STUDIO & ARCHIVE

Mabel and Victor D'Amico were pioneering spirits whose lives are remembered by the significant impact they made in the field of art education. They mentored countless numbers of artists and art educators throughout their many years of hands-on teaching.

The Archive comprises the extensive collection of research materials and art work documenting their life. The residence is used as an exhibition center reserved for on-going and transforming shows of the D'Amico's life work. The studio space provides hands-on workshops in the Autumn which are available to the public.

In 1940, the D'Amico's discovered and found the seaside / Amagansett location superior to any other they had seen. They began construction of of the main structure themselves employing contemporary concepts of modern design. The building contains early modernist furnishings, found object collections and the D'Amico's art work. The property also consists of a historic Lazy point fisherman's cottage, outdoor sculpture and gardens.
